In an interview on Arise TV, Okonkwo, who is also a Nollywood actor, emphasized the need for new faces in the political landscape, stating that the current leaders have failed Nigerians.

Okonkwo criticized the opposition parties for their inability to form a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He pointed out that despite having more opposition members in the House of Representatives, they failed to work together to produce the speaker and vice.

He said, “The reason is that the ruling party has failed, and the opposition has failed… I’m saying you don’t just finish an election, and the first thing you start talking about is the next election. You consolidate and form alliances amongst yourselves to work together as the opposition.”

Okonkwo’s call for Tinubu, Atiku, and Peter Obi to step aside has sparked attention, highlighting the need for fresh leadership and a united opposition to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections.
