The Delta State Commissioner for Youth Development, Barr. ThankGod Trakiriowei has expressed optimism on team Delta’s ability to win the 8th edition of the ongoing National Youth Games in Asaba.
Barr. Trakiriowei made the assertion while speaking with journalists at the Stephen Keshi Stadium Asaba as the games officially kicked off Friday.
The commissioner also expressed satisfaction with the level of preparations made for the Games.
He emphasised that sports represent a good strategy for harnessing the potential of the youth which was in line with the MORE Agenda of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Barr. Trakiriowei charged all the athletes to give their best and avoid the use of illegal substances to enhance their performance.
The 8th edition of the National Youth Games was declared open on Thursday by President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Minister for Sports, Senator John Enoh.
