The Chairman of Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr Ekong Edet Boco, has assured all political parties in the state of a level playing field.

Dr Boco said the process of elections cannot be complete without the media, saying, “Let me assure you that this team was carefully selected by the executive governor and we are working to ensure that everyone is carried along.”

According to him, “We are looking at the amended law; we will not allow December to pass us before we conduct elections. We want to appeal to everyone to remain calm.”

The commission chairman disclosed this in his office when the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Cross River State Council, paid him a courtesy visit at the Conference Hall of the Commission on Tuesday

The chairman of the Union, Comrade Archibong Bassey, said the executive members of the Union were in his to synergise with the commission on how to get involved in the commission’s timetable.

Archibong said, “I want to assure you that we will work with you and collaborate with the commission for the successful conduct of the elections in the state.

“We are together with you; we want to welcome you on board, and we trust you that you will deliver on your mandate”.
