The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom has reaffirmed its readiness to participate in the Saturday’s local government polls, expressing confidence that with the weight of the party, they will topple the PDP in the state.
Addressing the press on Thursday in Uyo, the Chairman, APC Local Government Election Campaign Council, Sen. Ita Enang said the party is fully prepared and committed to winning the local government elections. “Our party has a strong grassroots presence, and we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure our candidates are well-equipped to serve the people.”
Senator Ita Enang, who also doubles as the chairman, APC Reconciliation Committee in Akwa Ibom State, further reiterated that the party is poised for victory.
“Our campaign strategy focuses on showcasing our achievements and promising continued development and progress for Akwa Ibom.”
He said their candidates will deliver on the manifesto and campaign promises of the party, if elected into office as chairmen of councils.
Sen. Enang outlined some of the intended programmes of the APC for the local government areas as follows:
– Improved Infrastructure: Upgrading roads, healthcare facilities, and education infrastructure
– Economic Empowerment: Supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs
– Security: Enhancing security measures to ensure public safety, etc.
He said though the APC do not have total confidence in the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), but believe that it will conduct a free, fair, and transparent electoral process come Saturday, 5th October.
The campaigns committee chairman, however, thanked the state governor, Pastor Umo Eno for allowing a level playing field for all political parties to participate in the process. He said the party has total confidence in the governor that local government election will be free and fair, while urging all APC members and supporters as well as the citizens of Akwa Ibom State go out enmasse on Saturday and vote for the candidates of the party.
