The family of Imasuen of Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State has cried out to the Nigeria Police and the media to come to their aid over threat to life of their son, Imasuen Efosa, here in Nigeria as a result of the case he had in America. Those involved in the said case are now after his life, and he has since then been traced by unknown armed men who desperately want him dead on several occasions.
Recounting his experience to journalists at the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, one of his siblings, Mr. Imasuen Edosa Osa, to plead for assistance, said recently his brother’s life threatening encounter occurred on September 9, 2024, at about 7:23am when some unknown armed men fully masked came to his house at No. 14, Omoma Street, off Oko Central, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria, in search of his brother, Imasuen Efosa.
According to Edosa on the said day, while trying to open the gate to drive out to drop his children at school, some unknown armed men came to his house, pushed him into the compound and forcefully made him and his wife – Marian to kneel down and face the wall.
“They asked me about the whereabouts of my brother (Efosa) whom they thought was around and I pleaded with them that he was not around but they did not believe me.
“They forced their way into my house; while I was looking for the keys they scattered and searched the entire house looking for my brother. While my wife and I pleaded with them to have mercy upon my brother, they repeated as they searched through my house that Efosa must die, that they were paid to eliminate him.
“They damaged some of my properties in the process and left in anger and threatened that I should tell my brother – Efosa to continue to hide and that their cartels are everywhere and the search for him is all over the country that he must go down.”
Edosa further disclosed that the threats to his brother’s life have been a reoccurring decimal, saying one of the incidences happened on September 19, 2023, when some armed men came to his house to look for his brother (Efosa) over a matter in faraway America.
“The armed men also came to look for Efosa sometimes in May 2024 and in June, 2024, respectively.
“All the search and threats to Efosa’s life have been reported to the police and I also commissioned my lawyer who wrote a petition in respect of the matter but the armed men are unknown and the police have not been able to get hold of them, this made it risky for my brother to return to Nigeria where threats to his life is still ongoing and his life is in great danger”, he said.
When contacted, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the petition and said that investigation into the alleged threat to life is ongoing.
