Barcelona has reached an agreement with Wojciech Szczesny to join the club.
According to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano, Szczesny is set to replace Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who sustained a long-term injury during the match against Villarreal, which ended in a 5-1 victory for Hansi Flick’s side.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper is expected to sign a one-year contract after successfully completing his medical tests.
Szczesny had previously announced his retirement from professional football on August 27, just days after mutually agreeing with Juventus to terminate his contract.
Barcelona had also considered other goalkeeping options, including Loris Karius, Keylor Navas, and Claudio Bravo, the latter being a former goalkeeper for the club who has also retired from professional football.
