Ecobank is set to organise a programme for secondary school teachers and students on 17th October, 2024, in Lagos State as part of the activities to mark the Ecobank Day 2024.
The programme is themed “AI in the classroom: What does it mean for our children? The programme will enlighten the teachers and students on the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and also to dissuade the teachers from the negative aspects of AI and ChatGPT.
“Over the past 10 extraordinary years, Ecobank Day has been bringing positive change across Africa. This milestone anniversary marks a decade of our unwavering commitment to making a difference amongst the local communities in which we work and live.
“As we celebrate this achievement, we are thrilled to introduce a new chapter in our journey as we launch our three-year ‘Transforming Africa Through Education’ campaign in partnership with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE). This theme underscores our dedication to shaping the future of our continent by equipping its people with essential skills. During the 2023 edition, we will be focusing on digital education and creating opportunities for children and youth so they receive the digital skills they will need for tomorrow’s jobs,” Ecobank said.
Ecobank believes Education is the key to a better future, reasons why they are prioritising education in Nigeria and Africa at large. Students will learn how they can use AI to improve their learning skills, and how they can use ChatGPT to understand a subject better. Teachers are not left out as well, teachers will also adapt to technology trends and appreciate ChatGPT. Teachers will appreciate the notion that AI is not meant to steal their job but to make their job easy.
The programme guest speakers are Alou Koniba Dembele who is an engineer and a research teacher, Dr. Ronda Zelezny-Green a project coordinator, Tech4Ed, technical assistant initiative for global partnership for education and Sonny Lacey, a director and product world leader.
Ecobank Day is an initiative that will help to resurrect the love for education in teachers, students and even parents as well. The main focus is to enlighten teachers, students and parents on how AI can improve literacy and digital skills in African children.
