Cole Palmer has been awarded the EA SPORTS Player of the Month for September 2024.
The announcement, made on Friday via the official Premier League website, highlights Palmer’s impressive performance, as he led the league in both goals and goal involvement during September, scoring five goals and providing one assist in just four appearances.
One of Palmer’s standout achievements occurred during Chelsea’s 6-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made history as the first player to score four goals in the first half of a Premier League match. This remarkable feat came within just 21 minutes, showcasing his exceptional finishing skills and composure under pressure, and securing his place in the league’s record books.
In addition to his four goals against Brighton, Palmer contributed an assist in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and scored again in the team’s 3-0 win over West Ham United, further solidifying his candidacy for the award.
This marks Palmer’s second Player of the Month title, with his first win occurring in April 2024. His consistency is notable, as he has now claimed two of the last three Player of the Month awards.
The 22-year-old topped an eight-man shortlist, with the public vote on the EA SPORTS website combined with the votes of a panel of football experts.
Palmer has started October strongly, providing an assist in a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest. He currently leads the Premier League with 11 goal involvements this season and aims to increase his tally when Chelsea faces Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, October 20.
As reported by the official Premier League website, the Barclays Manager of the Month for September will also be announced soon, adding to the series of prestigious recognitions for Premier League stars.
