A Former Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area, Hon. Saturday Ogbeide has called on Edo People to now put politics aside and join hands with the elected Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo to develop the state.
Speaking during a birthday and victory party at Ijiogba, Esan West Local Government Area, the former Chairman described Governor Monday Okpebholo as a God sent who will deliver the dividends of democracy wonderfully to the amazement of Edo people.
While urging everyone to support the Governor, Hon. Ogbeide, a stakeholder of the All Progressive Congress, APC in the state noted that everyone should join him to succeed in his developmental plans for the state.
“It is now time for Edo people to put politics aside and join hands together with the elected governor to develop the state.”
“This is a man that was not known before, but when he joined politics and contested as a councilor for the first time, he won and later became the Senator representing the senatorial district. This is the first time for the APC to have a senator in Edo Central since the inception of democracy, in 1999,” he noted.
Hon. Saturday Ogbeide who is a politician, businessman and an industrial Farmer, described Senator Monday Okpebholo as God’s intervention who was elevated from a Senator to become the governor of the state.
“As an Ishan man I want to assure Edo people that Governor Okpebholo will do wonders and will perform more than Senator Adams Oshiomhole when he was governor.
“He was sworn in as governor on the 12th of November and on the 13th he went to the bypass that the former governor, Godwin Obaseki said was a federal road to inspect the bad portion and he gave a matching order to the contractor to return back to work immediately. He also went to other places in the state on inspection to correct what was done wrong by the past administration.
” Even before he became a Senator, he gave motor bikes and other things to people, provided vehicles and support for the vigilante security in Esan land. He helped the poor and did a lot for the people. He is a man that does not talk too much.
“But when he makes a promise, he is a man that keeps to his promise. What he has promised Edo people, he is going to do it. All he needs is the support and prayers of the people.” he added.
While advising the governor not to segregate any body or any section of the state in his developmental plans, Hon Ogbeide said he should emulate Prof. Ambrose Ali, Samuel Ogbemudia, and Adams Oshiomhole. adding that the government should not make the mistake of patronizing politicians who claim to be farmers, but to deal with the real farmers in the interest of the state.
The birthday and victory party which was a carnival of sorts was graced by several persons, cutting across political parties, friends relations and the clergy.
