The Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Comrade Willy Eghe-Nova, has announced the appointment of zonal chairmen and a monitoring board to oversee the music body’s special taskforce across the three senatorial districts of the state.
Speaking during the inauguration of the appointees, Comrade Eghe-Nova urged them to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Federal Government-approved PMAN constitution (as amended) in executing their responsibilities.
He emphasized the importance of Article 8 (Q)i-iv of the constitution, which stipulates that “foreign artistes and other non-members of the organization, including local bands, event centers, recording studios, and DJs, must pay performance levies per show to the association before performing anywhere in the state.”
Eghe-Nova further clarified that PMAN members who have paid their monthly or annual levies and possess a valid PMAN job license are exempt from performance levies.
He encouraged the taskforce to collaborate with the police and other relevant law enforcement agencies to enforce these provisions effectively.
“Gone are the days when musicians and DJs disobey PMAN rules and go scot-free,” he declared.
In the newly constituted taskforce, Mr. Bright Ogiemwonyi (Ogiomen) will head Edo South, while Mohammed Abdulalzeen (Sugarman) and Emperor Aikorie Wadada will oversee Edo North and Edo Central, respectively.
Additionally, Mr. Aiyanyo Osadolor (a.k.a. Action) has been appointed as Chairman of the Edo PMAN Taskforce Monitoring Board.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Mr. Osadolor expressed gratitude to the PMAN leadership for the opportunity to serve.
He assured that they would carry out their duties diligently, upholding the principles of fairness and professionalism.
