…as NBTI holds two-day human capital devt training
Workers in the technology ecosystem, as well as in other walks of life, have been advised on the need to strike a balance between their official work and other aspects of their lives in order to advance organisational change.
The advice was given at a two-day human capital development programme organised by Jeff-Zoff Resources in collaboration with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI), South-South zone, for staff of NBTI’s Benin, Warri and Uyo Technology Incubation Centres.
The NBTI which falls under the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology is concerned with the development of necessary infrastructure for nurturing technology start-ups and promoting Nigeria’s indigenous potential through value added and technology-related activities.
The two-day programme, themed “Leading Organizational Change”, was held at the conference room of The Nigerian Observer building on 6th and 7th November, 2024.
Speaking on day-one of the event on the topic “Leading Organizational Change through Work-life Balance”, the Chairman, ACME Vocational Training Foundation, Dr. Juliet Wealth-Sakal, urged workers not to carry over issues they have at home to the workplace as that would affect their performance at work.
“Don’t bring in the baggage from home to the workplace. Your mind is your greatest asset and inability to separate personal life from the professional life would affect productivity and creativity,” Dr. Wealth-Sakal said.
Other speakers included Amb. Kelly Ogiesota, a certified safety instructor, World Safety Organisation; Paul Olonrunjoba, a technical support engineer; Mr. David Diekedie, Zonal Director, NBTI SSZ, amongst others.
There were also paper presentations on “Digitalization and Data Management”, “Enterprise and Operational Risk Assessment”, and “Leading Organizational Change through Employee’s Health, Safety and Well-Being Prioritization.”
Other topics presented at the event included “Leading Organizational Change through Excellence in the Workplace”, “The Influence of Technology on Interpersonal Communication”, “Mental Health Practices”, “Project Management”, and “Leading Organizational Change by Creating Value”.
The programme was rounded off on day-two with presentation of certificates to all attendees as well as rewards for active participation during the programme.
Staff of the NBTI who participated in the programme expressed satisfaction and happiness with the way the entire programme was organized, from the quality of the papers presented to the welfare and treatment they received. They looked forward to more of such programmes that would aid in the development of their capacity and capability to be productive on the job.
