BENIN CITY – The Edo Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has decried the poor state of school infrastructure during an inspection tour of public schools in Oredo Local Government Area on Wednesday.

Accompanied by SUBEB Chairman Paddy Iyamu and other officials, the governor visited Eweka Primary School Obazagbon, Oroma Primary School Amagba, Amagba Secondary School, and Uyiosa Primary School Uzebu, pledging immediate intervention to improve learning conditions.

At Eweka Primary School, Okpebholo expressed dismay at the state of the facilities, stating, “This is unacceptable. My administration will fix this school, ensure it is fenced, and begin construction immediately. I will return next week to monitor progress.”

The governor criticized the previous administration’s EdoBEST programme, calling it a failure that left schools in deplorable conditions.

Similar commitments were made at Oroma Primary School and Amagba Secondary School, where he promised to provide essential amenities and warned against land encroachment.

At Uyiosa Primary School, Okpebholo vowed to rebuild the institution and address security challenges, earning praise from residents for his prompt response.

SUBEB Chairman Paddy Iyamu assured that the governor’s directives would be implemented, stating, “Every Edo child deserves access to quality education and infrastructure. Work will begin immediately to transform these schools.”
