The Red Devils are going to face Tottenham Hotspur next month in the Carabao Cup quarter-final after their impressive win against Leicester City.

With Erik Ten Hag sacked and conclusions being awaited at the camp of Ruben Amorim and Sportin Lisbon, Ruud Van Nistelroy was appointed to be the interim coach of the club.

They seemed not to miss the services of Ten Hag has they went riot against Leicester City, defeating them 5-2 with Bruno Fernandes, Carlos Casemiro and Alejandro Garnacho getting the job done at the Old Trafford stadium yesterday night.

The first half was a six-goal thriller as Casemiro opened the scoring for the night as he blasted a right footed screamer from outside the box after receiving Garnacho’s pass. The favour was returned to the 20-year old right winger by Diogo Dalot’s cross in the 28th minute which he converted with a left-footed tap-in into the net.

The Leicester City tried to pull one back five minutes later when Bilal El Khannouss scored after Altay Bayindir tried to push the ball from a cross. They didn’t have time to enjoy that moment as Bruno Fernandes’s free kick was deflected into the post in the 36th minute. Casemiro once again scored a re-bound goal for a brace in the 39th minute after Rashford’s header hit the crossbar.

Conor Coady took the opportunity of a defensive error by Victor Lindelof to score his first goal for the Leicester City side and reduce the goal margin.

In the 59th minute, Bruno Fernandes scored the second goal to make his brace when he took advantage of Caleb Okoli’s pass, getting to the ball before the keeper and scoring the fifth goal to seal the win for the Red Devils.
