The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to host the country’s first ever international airshow in Lagos next year. The Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, made the announcement during a press conference at his office in Abuja on Thursday.

In a statement, Keyamo highlighted the strategic importance of the Nigeria International Airshow as a platform to gather aviation stakeholders from around the world, noting that the proposed three-day event will serve as an avenue to showcase the cutting-edge technologies and advancement in aviation, with leading industry players displaying their latest products and services.

“The airshow will feature world-class exhibitions and live demonstrations, providing an unparalleled opportunity for stakeholders to engage, collaborate, and explore business opportunities,” Keyamo said.

“Nigeria’s unique geographic location positions it as an ideal hub for African transit and aviation activities. The Nigeria International Airshow will not only highlight the country’s potential in the aviation industry but also draw a broad spectrum of participants, including international and local manufacturers, airlines, regulatory agencies, and aviation service providers, foster stronger partnerships and create investment opportunities that will drive growth and development across the sector,” he added.

Gbenga Saka, Special Assistant, Digital Media to Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, stated on his X account, that the airshow is set to take place in April 2025.

“The Nigeria International Airshow is scheduled for April 2025 in Lagos. Specific dates will be announced closer to the event,” Saka said.

The Nigeria International Airshow (NIA) will feature a variety of events aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s aviation ecosystem and tourism. Between 150 to 200 companies are expected to participate in the event, which will also serve as a platform for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), lessors, financiers, policymakers, and industry experts to collaborate.

The minister further noted the Nigeria show will offer a unique blend of exhibition areas, live displays, with opportunities for networking, investment discussions, and showcasing Nigeria’s potential in aviation.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nigeria International Airshow, Brian Williams, expressed sincere appreciation to the Minister for his dedication to advancing Nigeria’s aviation industry.

“We are grateful to the Honourable Minister for his support in making this airshow a reality in Nigeria. We believe it will be a defining moment, not only for our country but for the African aviation industry as a whole,” Williams said.

The event, which will run for three days, is set to be a landmark occasion for Nigeria and the African aviation industry as a whole.
