The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, conducted a readiness assessment visit to Akure North and Akure South local government areas on Tuesday, ahead of the upcoming Ondo State governorship election scheduled for November 16.
During his visit, Prof. Yakubu provided instructions to INEC officials and staff, underscoring the Commission’s commitment to a transparent and efficient electoral process. Speaking with journalists, he expressed satisfaction with the current level of preparation in the two LGAs, stating that INEC is taking every necessary measure to raise the standards for a credible election.
“We are committed to ensuring that every aspect of the election process is thoroughly planned and executed.
“The Commission will leave no stone unturned to ensure this election sets a new benchmark for future polls,” Prof. Yakubu said.
The visit included assessments of logistics, equipment, and personnel deployment, with the INEC Chairman reiterating the importance of readiness across all levels to safeguard the integrity of the election.
