BENIN CITY – The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has criticized the commissioning of Stella Obasanjo Hospital in Benin City by former Governor Godwin Obaseki, labeling it a scam.
During an inspection of the hospital in Benin City, accompanied by the state Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa and Commissioner for Health Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, Okpebholo revealed that the facility is still under construction and lacks essential equipment.
“After inspecting the facilities, it is clear that nothing was done here by the Obaseki-led administration.
,”They just painted the building and fixed air conditioners to deceive the public. This is unacceptable and unfair to Edo people,” the governor said.
Okpebholo promised to address structural defects and ensure the hospital is completed and functional for Edo residents.
Dr. Oshiomhole added that the contractor has questions to answer regarding the incomplete project, stating, “The building was commissioned politically, but upon inspection, it appears abandoned. Structural defects will be corrected, and proper commissioning will follow.”
