As part of giving back to the community, the Orhionmwon Student Union (OSU) has donated school bags and exercise books to pupils of Esigie Demonstration Primary School, in Abudu, Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
The student body led by its president, Comr Etinosa Israel, presented the learning materials on behalf of the union executives to the pupils, on Monday, to the delight of the teaching staff.
Comr Etinosa, accompanied by Ayemere Testimony and Okunbor Emmanuel, who represented the sponsor, Dcn. Okunbor Jonathan, admonished beneficiaries to focus on their studies to enable them achieve success in life.
“We want them to face their studies and become better persons in future, as education is the bedrock of any developed society”, Etinosa told The Nigerian Observer at the sidelines of the presentation.
According to him, some pupils lack learning materials hence the need to reach out to well-meaning individuals and organizations to support in providing materials to aid their education.
The student leader, who commended the sponsor, Dcn. Okunbor, special adviser to Orhionmwon Council chairman, explained that the educational items were to motivate the pupils to learn.
The union is expected to visit Okogbo Primary School among other schools next week for similar donations.
