… tourney kicks off Dec. 10
All is now set for the 2nd Edition of the prestigious Under-18 Oba of Benin Football Tournament for male teams in Edo State.
In a statement made available to The Nigerian Observer Sports by the Edo State Football Association (Edo FA) Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, the tournament being organised by the Edo FA, is expected to kick of Tuesday, December 10, at the Crescent Sports Club Irhiri, in Benin City, with nineteen teams from across the state participating.
Meanwhile, the Media parley/ draws for the tournament has been schedule for today, Saturday, December 7, at the Media Centre of the remodeled Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, at 11:00am.
In the statement, The Chairman of Edo FA revealed that all logistics have been put in place for a succesful tournament in honour of His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II, The Oba of Benin, as he celebrates the annual Igue Festival this month.
Erhunmwunse called on the participating teams to ensure they attend the draws for the tournament today.
Some of the teams that will compete for honours in the 2nd Edition of the Oba of Benin Football tournament, are Worshippers FC, United FC, Unique FC, Supreme FC, Efe-Urhocity FC, Delight FC, Edo Dynamo Sports Foundation FC and Favour FC.
Others are Shooting Arrows FC, BJ FC, Rolly FC, Bendel Insurance Feeders FC, Rockers FC, Daddy Bazuaye FC, City Rovers FC, London FC, Dynamo Academica, Angels FC and St Andrews Foundation fC.
The tournament is sponsored by a United States of America based Ex – Player, Michael Ogbebor popularly known as Obanta.
The tournament will climax December 26 ( Boxing day) at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.
