… Inspects ongoing road projects in Benin
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to transform the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS) into a globally competitive media organization while inspecting ongoing road projects in Benin City.
The Governor, accompanied by top government officials, visited the EBS premises and several road project sites, including Upper Mission extension by Aduwawa junction, Obadan Junction on the Benin-Auchi Expressway, and Upper Ekenwan Road.
During an unscheduled visit to EBS, Governor Okpebholo toured the facilities with the Managing Director, Suleiman Aledeh, and other top staff. He acknowledged the station’s challenges, including poor electricity supply, inadequate studio facilities, and bad access roads.
“I have seen the challenges facing the station. No electricity, bad roads, and many more. We will look at how to solve the problems,” the Governor said.
To address the power issues, he proposed sourcing alternative energy solutions, such as solar systems or new generators, to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour operations. He also hinted at rebuilding or renovating the station’s dilapidated facilities.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized professionalism among EBS staff, urging them to remain impartial and to critique his administration when necessary. “I am here to serve Edo people. Criticize me when I am going wrong,” he told the staff.
In his remarks, Suleiman Aledeh expressed confidence in the Governor’s ability to resolve the station’s issues, highlighting the importance of maintaining EBS as a competitive media organization.
Inspecting road projects, Governor Okpebholo reiterated his commitment to delivering results before the rainy season.
He commended the progress and quality of work at the Obadan Junction project, expressing optimism that it would be completed in time for use before Christmas.
“With continuous monitoring, we are getting results. The contractor is doing his best to ensure completion. I am very much satisfied with the quality and pace of work,” the Governor stated.
Governor Okpebholo affirmed that his administration remains focused on practical governance to ensure Edo residents enjoy the dividends of democracy.
