… says high end valuables sold to kick-start orphanage, to save, improve lives

… appreciates partners’ kind, unwavering support

The founder and Chief Executive Officer of God’s Grace Orphanage and Motherless Babies Home (GGOMBH), Mrs. Kate Okunrobo Odianosen has expounded on her motivation and drive in adding values to lives, especially to those of young orphans, and less privileged individuals, some of whom have been abused, tortured, and traumatized into giving up on life.

Okunrobo disclosed this while recalling her experience in the humanitarian endeavor via a teleconference with newsmen, on Monday 2nd of December, 2024.

Suffice it to mention that while the humanitarian cause is not a profit-making venture, humanitarians are motivated by the need and passion to save lives. They always want to make impact in the lives of the people they serve, and the community they represent.

Notably, Kate Okunrobo during her narration noted that while growing up, she knew herself to be a compassionate person but didn’t set out to become a humanitarian.

“Growing up, I knew myself to be a compassionate person but I never set out to become a humanitarian.

“However, things changed when life challenges began to hit me, and while I went through a lot as a young girl, it was difficult for me to meet up with life expectations. I dropped out of school and felt rejected by society, my moral and psychological health were mistreated, and living a well-meaning life just like every normal person in the society was unattainable,” Okunrobo said.

According to Okunrobo: “As a youngster I had a series of dreams and daunting visions from God, accompanied by an undying passion in me, to yield myself to help and liberate the underprivileged, abused and needy persons in society.

“I came from a polygamous family and had 16 siblings, that is to tell you how challenging the environment I grew up was. However, the vision became more apparent when I had the opportunity to travel abroad and began thriving, knowing the task ahead of me.

“In 2011, one of the heart-melting and sacrificial decisions I made in bringing the vision of God’s Grace Orphanage to light, was to sell some self owned precious valuables to kick-start the orphanage building. This decision and the financial challenges that accompanied the building process almost crumbled my marriage.”

She added: “Today, we have a world class facility situated in Ovbukhun in Sapele road, Benin City, Edo State. It is evident that the quality of lives and life-changing testimonies of the orphans, and abused victims under my custody is a testament to my unwavering commitment and drive to express and live a purposeful life.”

Okunrobo’s transformational leadership cuts across boundaries, and a thrilling statement that further crowns the uniqueness of her heart was unveiled when she explained the ordeal of how she wasn’t privileged enough to attend a quality school for a sound education, nor even a decent mattress for sleep.

But today, orphans and other underprivileged victims under her custody now have access to private and quality education system, with world-class infrastructure, and a well-equipped home to live happy and fulfilling lives.

This is a heartwarming, life-touching story that will steer more individuals to support humanitarian causes.

The CEO and entire management of God’s Grace Orphanage sincerely appreciate all partners who have been there from the very onset, even those who joined in 2022 in helping the orphanage expand its reach and impact.

“We would not have been where we are today if not for your kind and continuous support,” Okunrobo said.
