Benin City – Orderliness has returned to the bustling ‘3rd junction’ in Benin City as the newly recruited Edo State Public Safety Response (PSR) team commences operations last Thursday
The area, notorious for heavy traffic and congestion, had become a source of frustration for motorists and pedestrians before the PSR team was set up.
The area was plagued by chaotic vehicular movements, petty traders encroaching on roadways in disregard disregard for traffic regulations.
Before the PSR’s intervention, navigating the area was a time-consuming ordeal, as traders occupied large portions of the road, while commercial bus ‘Tuke Tuke’ drivers contributed to the disorderliness.
These activities compromised the beautification projects initiated by the previous administration.
However, pedestrians like John Osarugue, Mary Odia, and Susan Ogbe commended the state government for deploying the PSR team to restore order.
They noted that the team’s efforts have significantly improved traffic flow and enhanced the area’s aestetics.
While expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance, they also called for extension of its closing hours from the current 6:00 p.m. schedule to 10:00 p.m. to maintain order during peak evening hours.
They urged the government to sustain the initiative to preserve the gains already recorded.
