… Advocates greater inclusion for women

Former Edo North Senatorial Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Mrs. Angelina Aigbokhai, has called on the people of Edo State to support Governor Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, as they work to elevate the state.

Speaking to journalists on the administration’s developmental efforts, Aigbokhai praised the governor’s leadership, stating that his election was timely and that he is determined to deliver the dividends of democracy.

She highlighted his achievements within his first hundred days in office, including extensive road rehabilitation, agricultural development, improvements in healthcare, and enhanced security measures through the provision of modern facilities and operational vehicles for security agencies.

While commending the governor’s appointments, describing them as “a square peg in a square hole,” she urged him to ensure greater inclusion of women in governance by upholding the stipulated 35% representation.

According to her, women play a crucial role as foot soldiers in electoral processes and should be adequately recognized in political appointments.

Addressing the ongoing Edo Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, Aigbokhai dismissed concerns about the case, describing it as baseless.

She expressed confidence in the legitimacy of the election, stating that the people overwhelmingly voted for Okpebholo and that the process was free, fair, and devoid of any major disputes.

She called on the people, especially those in Owan West, to set aside political divisions now that the election is over and unite in supporting the administration both spiritually and physically to ensure its success.

Additionally, she commended APC leaders across Edo State for their unity and commitment to securing victory for the party.

In closing, Aigbokhai extended her felicitations to Muslims and Christians as they observe Ramadan and Lent season urging them to continue praying for the peace, progress, and development of Edo State and Nigeria at large.
