In a determined quest to curb acts criminalities and other social vices in Delta State and its environs, the Delta State police command has arrested one Victor Edavwe ‘m’ the youth president of Ekpan community for gun running.
He was said to have recently purchased the AK-47 rifle, according a press release made available to journalists by the Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Bright Edafe (SP) in Asaba Delta State.
The DPO Ekpan Division, CSP Aliyu Shaba was said to have mobilized and led operatives to Shrine Street in Ekpan, where the suspect Victor Edavwe was arrested.
According to the release, the suspects gave useful information that corroborated the intelligence earlier gathered and led to the arrest of one Efe (surname unknown) A.K.A ‘Eteyomo’, and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses, two daggers and Forty-four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition wrapped in a black sack and concealed on the roof of the sitting room were recovered.
In the same vein, the police said, “on the 16th of March 2025 at about 1600hours, the DPO Ekpan Police station while acting on intelligence gathered on the criminal activities of kidnappers, armed robbers around Jeddo Axis of Okpe LGA, led operatives of Ekpan police station and arrested one Endurance Oghoghome ‘m’ aged 38yrs of Umukoro street, Blessing Oghoghome ‘m’ 46yrs, one Marvellous Dissy ‘m’ aged 43yrs and Jonas Orogho ‘m’ 38yrs.
“The suspects upon preliminary investigation led the policemen to their hideout in Jeddo community and a search warrant was executed on the premises.
“During the search, one automatic English pump action gun, two locally made single barrel guns, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, one locally made cut-to-size gun, and a live cartridge were recovered”, .
The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the DPO and his men for their dedication and commitment.
While reiterating that the people of Jeddo community have reached out to the command appreciating their effort, he noted that they can now breathe a sigh of relief due to the arrest of these suspects.
