… Urges investors to support Okpebholo’s devt strides

BENIN CITY – The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has disassociated itself from a group known as the NUJ Independent Journalists Forum, stating that it operates without the union’s knowledge, recognition, or authorization.

In an official statement signed by the union’s Secretary, Andy Egbon on Sunday, the Edo NUJ made it clear that the so-called forum is not affiliated with the union at any level and does not form part of the 15 recognized chapels under its structure.

The council emphasized that any communication, request, or engagement from the group does not reflect the position of the NUJ and should be disregarded by government officials, organizations, and the public.

To prevent misinformation and misrepresentation, the Edo MY NUJ urged all stakeholders to verify any correspondence claiming to be from the NUJ through its official channels.

The union also advised the public to report any activity of the NUJ Independent Journalists Forum to its leadership.

In response to the emergence of the group, security agencies have been placed on high alert to investigate what the NUJ described as a “fake and illicit” organization.

The NUJ, Edo State Council reaffirmed its position as the only legitimate body representing journalists under the NUJ structure in the state.
