In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the Edo State Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), headed by Miss Sally Suleiman, has introduced the Plant, Nurture, Eat – Edo Girls’ Farm Project, an initiative designed to empower young girls through hands-on agricultural training.

The project aims to provide practical farming skills while fostering patience, responsibility, and self-sufficiency among participants.

It also aligns with broader goals of enhancing food security and promoting environmental sustainability in the state.

Launched under the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo, the initiative is in line with his SHINE Agenda, which prioritizes agriculture as a key driver of economic growth and transformation.

By involving young girls in farming, the project contributes to youth empowerment while supporting key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Gender Equality (SDG 5).

The Plant, Nurture, Eat initiative highlights Edo State’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and the development of future female leaders in agribusiness.

Through this effort, the state seeks to secure a more food-sufficient future while equipping young girls with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the agricultural sector.
