Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa on Tuesday, March 18, welcomed the Conference of Non – Governmental Organizations (CONGOs) led by Comrade (Dr.) Bartholomew Okoudo to his office at the Edo State Government House, just as he stated that the visitation was timely and opened up collaborative vistas.
The deputy governor who communicated the perspective of government as it relates to the infrastructural development of the state, told the group that as critical stakeholders their request to
“Eye mark” projects undertaken by contractors in communities to help government verify and ascertain the integrity of jobs done, was germane.
He upheld that the Edo State Government was geared towards working for the interest of its citizens and poised to bridge communication gaps that exist between government and its people.
Idahosa told CONGOS that the eye mark project, if revived, would give government value for money to ensure that project specifications are met and actualized within set time frame. He assured his guests of channeling feedback from the courtesy visit to his principal, Governor Monday Okpebholo to make raised observations actionable.
Comrade Okoudo who went down memory lane mentioned the good deeds of Idahosa to the body way before he ventured into mainstream politics. He nevertheless presented the area of needs, challenges and quest for integration into the collaborative efforts of government.
In related vein, Idahosa welcomed the Middle Belt Association of Nigeria, Edo State Branch, led by its Chairman, Mr. Abu Joshua Ishaya, who congratulated the governor and his team for their electoral victory during the last governorship poll in Edo State.
He listened to the request for political, entrepreneurial and general inclusion of the group in activities of government. He however brought to their realization that the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration is not restricted to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as he is the Governor of the entire state, irrespective of political divide and cultural affiliations of the people.
Promising to pass raised observations to the governor, he counseled the group, urging them to familiarize themselves with the culture and tradition of the people of Edo State; their host communities, as well as respect laws of the land. He affirmed that government would work with the group to ensure that the middle belt people living in Edo State get the maximum support from the government of Edo State.
