Comrade Leo Atakpu, the Deputy Executive Director of the Africa Network for Environment and Economic Justice (ANEEJ), has been recognised as the Outstanding Activist of the Year at the 14th edition of the BA Global Awards.
The award, presented by Dr Bishop Akhalamhe, Project Coordinator of BA Global Awards, celebrates Atakpu’s unwavering dedication to social justice and community service.
Dr Akhalamhe highlighted that the awards aim to honour individuals who have made a significant impact while they are still alive, acknowledging Atakpu as one of 14 recipients who have influenced Edo State, Nigeria, and society at large. He praised Atakpu’s humility and commitment to humanitarian work.
In his acceptance speech, Atakpu expressed gratitude to BA Global Awards for the recognition and pledged to redouble his efforts to drive positive change.
He reaffirmed his belief that service to humanity is the most meaningful way to live and vowed to continue working towards a better Nigeria.
