The Edo State House of Assembly has approved Governor Monday Okpebholo’s request to engage TIARUS WHITE CONSULTS LTD for the recovery of funds owed to the state under the Project Gazelle Afriexim loan and other crude oil loan arrangements.

The approval also covers a ten percent deduction at source as professional fees for the consulting firm.

The Governor’s request, presented to the Assembly during plenary in Benin and read by Speaker Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, highlighted the need to join 36 other states in recovering funds due from the Project Gazelle scheme.

Agbebaku underscored the importance of supporting the governor’s initiative, stating that the recovered funds would significantly contribute to the state’s socioeconomic development.

Following a voice vote, the Assembly unanimously approved the governor’s proposal.

In a separate development at the same plenary, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) nominated Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian as the new minority leader and Yekini Idiaye as the minority whip. Hon. Aiguobarueghian, the immediate past majority leader, was replaced by an APC member after the party secured a majority in the House.
