... Reaffirms commitment to modernising Edo State
The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commenced the dualisation of the Ekpoma–Uromi–Ubiaja road as part of broader efforts to modernise infrastructure across the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Benin City by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu, who reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering on the people’s expectations.
According to the Commissioner, the governor views governance as a tool for enhancing the well-being of citizens, rather than exacerbating their hardships.
He stated that the ongoing reconstruction of the Ekpoma–Uromi–Ubiaja road has already begun to yield positive feedback, with road users reporting reduced travel time and improved journey experiences.
Ohonbamu emphasised that the state-wide construction projects are not solely aimed at beautification or easing traffic, but also serve to stimulate economic activity and rejuvenate commercial life in Edo.
He revealed that plans are underway for the construction of three flyovers in Benin City as part of Governor Okpebholo’s drive to transform the state capital and fast-track the modernisation of Edo.
"The Governor is determined to turn Edo State into a portable paradise,” he added.
The Commissioner noted that public confidence in the administration is growing, with the Governor’s five-point SHINE agenda—Security, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Food Sufficiency, and Education—already making an impact on communities across the state.
Highlighting achievements in the education and infrastructure sectors, Ohonbamu listed several renovated schools including Eweka Primary School, New Era College, Ebomisi Secondary School, Ileh Primary School in Ekpoma, Irrua Girls’ Grammar School, and Udomi Primary School.
He also pointed out that some previously neglected federal roads are now receiving attention under Governor Okpebholo’s leadership.
Describing the Governor’s emergence as providential, the Commissioner asserted that the people of Edo State are beginning to see governance in action and can take pride in the visible progress under the current administration.
