The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, has reassured the families of the 16 victims killed in Uromi, Edo State, that justice will be served. 

During a visit to Bunkure Local Government Area in Kano State, Barau sympathized with the bereaved families and pledged to push for accountability.

Speaking at the At-Taqwa Mosque in Sabon Fegi, Bunkure, the senator, accompanied by Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, and NWDC Managing Director, Professor Abdullahi Shehu Ma’aji, confirmed that security agencies had arrested 16 suspects linked to the attack. 

He emphasized that authorities were intensifying efforts to bring all perpetrators to justice.

To support the grieving families, Senator Barau announced a donation of N1 million to each of the 16 affected families. 

He also committed to sponsoring a motion in the Senate to address the killings and prevent a reoccurrence 

“I am here to sympathize with you over this tragic incident. May Allah grant the departed Jannatul Firdaus and heal the wounded. The government is committed to ensuring that those responsible face the full weight of the law,” he stated.

Responding, the Chief Imam of the area, Sheikh Zainul Abidina Auwal, thanked Senator Barau for his support and commended his dedication to justice and national unity.
