Al-Bayan Interfaith Centre has called for the immediate prosecution of all those involved in the killing of innocent Muslim travelers to Kano in Uromi, Edo State.
This call is coming amidst revelations of the arrest of some of the suspects involved in the barbaric act that tended to undermine our humanity.
Al-Bayan, has therefore called on relevant authorities to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the killing as they commended the Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo and his Kano State counterpart, Abbah Yusuf for their respective roles in dousing raised tensions in the wake of the incident.
The group in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Imam Muhammad Jibrin Ndagi, urged both governors not to stop at that but use their good offices in collaboration with their colleagues to promote the spirit of love, togetherness devoid of acrimony and mutual suspicions among Nigerians irrespective of where they come from.
“We are deeply saddened and outraged by this brutal act of violence, which is a clear violation of human rights and the fundamental values of compassion, tolerance, and respect for human life.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of the victims, as we pray that Allah grants them strength, comfort, and justice.
“We call on the relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and take concrete measures to prevent such senseless violence from occurring again”.
Al-Bayan Interfaith Center however urged all Nigerians to rise in condemnation of every act of terrorism and to promote peace, understanding, and mutual respect among all communities.
They called for justice for the victims and their families, and reiterates its commitment towards promoting security, peace, and harmonious living in our communities, just as they promised to continue to work with all stakeholders towards ensuring safety and security in our communities.
