The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the personal particulars of candidates contesting in the upcoming Anambra State governorship election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

According to a press statement issued on Saturday and signed by Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, a total of sixteen (16) political parties successfully uploaded their candidates’ nomination forms ahead of the 6:00 p.m. deadline of Monday, May 12, 2025. 

The submission was done via INEC’s dedicated online portal, which was automatically shut down at the deadline.

In compliance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and item 4 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the election, the Commission has now displayed the personal particulars of each candidate and their running mates.

These include the Form EC9, along with accompanying academic qualifications and other relevant documents. These documents are available for public inspection at the INEC State Headquarters in Awka and in all 21 Local Government Area offices across Anambra State.

INEC called on Nigerians to carefully scrutinize the published documents, just the Commission reminded aspirants who participated in the party primaries and believe that any candidate has submitted false information that they have the right to challenge such nominations in a Federal High Court, as stipulated in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The final list of candidates for the election will be published on June 9, 2025, in compliance with the 150 days window as contained in Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act and item 7 of the election timetable.

The 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election is slated for Saturday, November 8, 2025.
