Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has mobilised contractors handling road construction and rehabilitation projects across the state to commence work, according to the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Paul Ohonbamu.
Speaking with newsmen in Benin City, Ohonbamu said that all contractors have been given the mandatory 25 percent mobilisation fee to enable immediate action on approved projects.
“Governor Okpebholo is working round the clock to ensure full implementation of every approved project,” he said.
“Whatever the Governor says, he ensures it is done. He has made visible impacts in disaster management, public security, infrastructure, education, and human capital development across 18 local government areas.”
He also revealed that the State Executive Council, at its recent meeting, approved the renovation and remodelling of sixteen secondary schools across the three senatorial districts.
Schools listed include Edo College, Evbareke Secondary School, St. David Mixed Model School in Evboneka, and St. Maria Goretti Secondary School, among others.
According to the Commissioner, preparations are complete for the formal launch of the new Edo Line Transport Service, set for 27 June 2025, with terminals ready in major cities such as Port Harcourt, Warri, Lagos, Abuja, and Calabar.
He also disclosed that disbursement has begun for the N1 billion support fund promised by Governor Okpebholo to farmers, traders, and market women during this year’s International Women’s Day celebration.
Additionally, some members of the newly trained Edo State Security Corps have been deployed, while others continue training at the NYSC camp in Okada.
