BENIN CITY – The Managing Director of the Edo State Public Building and Maintenance Agency (EDPUBMA), Hon. Okoyomoh Bawa Mohammed, has held his first official meeting with contractors operating in the state, declaring that his tenure will be defined by quality infrastructure, strict monitoring, and result-oriented service delivery.
Speaking during the meeting held at the agency’s headquarters in Benin City, Hon. Mohammed reiterated his commitment to building a more sustainable and functional public infrastructure system that reflects global standards and serves the long-term needs of Edo citizens.
He explained that the agency would soon commence comprehensive inspection tours of ongoing and completed government projects across the three senatorial zones of the state.
These visits, he noted, will not be aimed at witch-hunting contractors, but will provide a factual basis for evaluation, planning, and accountability.
“Our visits will enable us to understand the progress made and identify areas needing attention. The goal is not to find faults, but to build a monitoring system that ensures Edo people get value for every naira spent on public infrastructure,” he said.
While commending the contractors for their past contributions, Hon. Mohammed warned against substandard work, stressing that his administration will not compromise quality.
He vowed to enforce strict adherence to project timelines, technical specifications, and safety standards.
“My leadership style is driven by results. I will not tolerate mediocrity. Contractors must deliver as agreed, and where there are challenges, they must be communicated transparently,” he asserted.
He further assured the contractors of an open-door policy and a working relationship founded on mutual respect, professionalism, and shared commitment to development.
In their response, the contractors pledged their readiness to align with the agency’s vision and called for improved payment timelines to support project delivery.
They expressed optimism that under the current leadership, the agency would achieve greater efficiency in public project execution
