The Coordinator of the Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has emphasised that the true dividend of democracy is the delivery of good governance to the people, governance that prioritises education, healthcare, infrastructure, security, and human development.

Mrs. Anani stated this during a visit by members of the Iyobo Sunshine Group, a grassroots women’s organisation led by Mrs. Toying Ojei.

The delegation met with her at the Government House in Benin City to express their support and solidarity with the current administration under Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Acknowledging the group’s support during the last election, Mrs. Anani reaffirmed that government must focus on improving the lives of the people through accessible public services.

“Not everyone can hold a political position, but what the government owes its people is good governance—ensuring that essential services reach everyy citizen. This is the promise of democracy, and it is our duty to fulfil it,” she noted.

She further assured the group that the administration remains committed to implementing projects that benefit all, regardless of social standing. “We must always remember that governance is continuous. Our Governor recognises the responsibility of transforming Edo State for the better. Your support means a lot, and our office is open to collaborating with like-minded groups,” she added.

In response, Mrs. Ojei expressed appreciation for Mrs. Anani’s leadership and the efforts of the First Lady’s Office in championing causes that affect women and families across the state.

“We see what you are doing, and we celebrate you. You have become a symbol of hope and pride for Edo women. The ‘New Edo Has Risen’ message is one we are proud to spread,” she said.

The visit concluded with the presentation of a framed portrait to Mrs. Anani as a token of appreciation for her leadership and service.
