Benin City – Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has stated that Governor Monday Okpebholo is committed to spreading development evenly across the state’s three senatorial districts, with the aim of turning Edo into a “portable paradise.”

Speaking in Benin City, the Commissioner said the governor, who chairs the State Executive Council, has shown unwavering concern for inclusive development and equitable governance.

“Governor Okpebholo is determined to ensure that every part of the state feels the impact of his administration. His decisions are guided by the principle of promoting the well-being of all Edo citizens,” Ohonbamu said.

He disclosed that the administration has approved a series of road construction projects, as well as the renovation and remodelling of schools across various local government areas.

These interventions, he said, were long overdue and had been neglected by previous administrations.

Road projects already approved and mobilised include internal roads in Ogheghe Community and the Old Sapele Road; Iyioha and Isiweme Streets in Ikpoba-Okha; and three spurs in Aho, Irrua in Esan Central LGA. Others are Uhie Road off Sapele Road, Oghenesi Oza Road leading to Uhi Community in Uhunmwonde, and the Amosi Okpaga Road with links to Agbonze Street, Daddy J. Road, and Michael Aigbedion Street—altogether spanning 8.3 kilometres.

In the education sector, the government has begun the renovation and remodelling of Uhonmora Senior Secondary School (Owan West), Afokpella Secondary School (Etsako East), Agba Grammar School (Esan North-East), Fugar Mixed Secondary School (Etsako Central), and Iduwele Secondary School (Esan Central).

Also listed are Ubiaza Secondary School (Esan South-East), Oredo Girls Secondary School (Oredo), Army Day Secondary School (Ikpoba-Okha), and Ososo Grammar School (Akoko-Edo). Major schools in Benin City—Edo College, Evbareke Secondary School, St. David Mixed Model School in Evboneka, and St. Maria Goretti Girls Secondary School, are also undergoing upgrades.

Ohonbamu described Governor Okpebholo as a “listening leader” who is determined to make life better for the people of Edo State through bold and deliberate interventions.
