The Chancellor of Lighthouse University, Rev. (Dr.) Felix Omobude, has described the institution as a centre of academic excellence, discipline, and self-empowerment, virtues he said are critical in the present age.

Dr. Omobude made this known during a tour of the university’s permanent site at Evbuobanosa community, along the Benin-Agbor Expressway near Benin City.

He noted that the institution, equipped with state-of-the-art learning infrastructure and facilities, is preparing students to face future challenges.

“In today’s world, there is no room for mediocrity. Excellence must be our standard,” he stated.

According to him, the vision of Lighthouse University is to raise men and women who will stand before kings, not obscure men, stressing that the university must be driven by godliness, innovation, creativity, and a deep hunger for growth.

He reassured Nigerians that the university, built on a solid moral foundation, has the staff strength, conducive environment, and academic facilities necessary to become a world-class institution.

While acknowledging that growth is a process, he pledged continuous improvement in academic delivery and infrastructure, and urged students to be worthy ambassadors of the university.

“I invite all well-meaning individuals, organisations, and all tiers of government to partner with Lighthouse University. I believe this institution will contribute meaningfully to lasting transformation in society,” Rev. Dr. Omobude added.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Imianvan, disclosed that the university has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 15 academic programmes.

Approved programmes include B.Sc. degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Microbiology, Political Science and Public Administration.

Others are Science Laboratory Technology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology and Security Studies, International Relations and Diplomacy, Computer Engineering, and Business Administration.

Prof. Imianvan also highlighted available facilities supporting teaching and learning, including lecture theatres, an e-library, laboratories for microbiology, physics, chemistry, and fully equipped mechanical/electrical workshops. The campus also has separate hostels for male and female students, as well as a campus clinic.

He urged parents and guardians to consider Lighthouse University, Evbuobanosa, as their first choice when seeking higher education for their children and wards.

Highlights of the facility tour included testimonies from enthusiastic students who shared their positive experiences as pioneers in the young citadel of learning.
