Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has reiterated the importance of dialogue and consensus in legislative-executive relations, highlighting the 10th House’s emphasis on collaboration over confrontation.

His media aide, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, said in a statement that the Speaker underscored lawmaking approaches rooted in inclusivity, transparency, and cooperation.

He pointed to key reforms such as strengthening legislative caucuses to deliberate on contentious matters before plenary, and empowering the Whip’s office as a conflict mediator.

He also noted that committee roles are being fairly distributed across parties, regions, and groups, alongside enhanced public participation through Legislative Town Halls and civic education.

Other reforms include the development of a legal framework for constituency projects, modelled after India and Kenya.

Speaker Abbas emphasised that the House is redefining its role as both a partner in governance and a credible watchdog over public resources.
