… Backs Anyanwu as PDP Secretary
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, citing the need for equity, justice, and adherence to constitutional principles.
Wike made the declaration on Monday in Abuja while presenting a communiqué following a meeting of the “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.”
“In the spirit of fairness, inclusion, and federal character, the PDP must make a clear decision to zone its presidential ticket to the South in 2027, after years of northern dominance under President Buhari,” the communiqué stated.
The group also insisted that only Senator Sam Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the PDP, has the constitutional authority to issue notices for key party meetings.
It declared that any correspondence or action not issued by Anyanwu, including those directed to INEC is null and void.
Furthermore, the stakeholders reaffirmed Anyanwu as the substantive National Secretary, citing the Supreme Court’s ruling and stressing the need to stabilise the party and restore internal democracy.
“To rescue the PDP from its current drift, the party must promptly respect court judgments and reinforce democratic principles,” the communiqué concluded.
