The Nigeria Judo Federation in collaboration with the Edo State Judo Association is set to host the 4th edition of the Ekus National Developmental Judo Championships for Under-13, Under-17 and Senior categories in Benin City.

The championship, tagged “Catch Them Young,” is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 1, and will run until Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, beginning from 10:00 AM daily.

According to the organisers, the event aims to provide a platform for young judokas to showcase their talents and sharpen their skills.

Athletes under the ages of 13 and 17 from across the 36 states of the federation are expected to arrive in Benin City on Tuesday for the tournament, with eleven teams set for weigh-in and fixtures.

Host state, Edo, will field seventy grassroots athletes for the competition, which aims to promote the growth of judo in Nigeria and nurture the next generation of national champions.
