The Executive Secretary of the Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Coulson Oahimire Osoikhia, has reiterated the commitment of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration to the health and well-being of citizens.
Dr. Osoikhia made this known on Tuesday when he visited Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area following concerns raised by residents over the absence of a primary healthcare centre in the community.
During the visit, the Ohen of Ikpoba Community, Chief Nosakhare Obaze, lamented that the previous administration had demolished their health centre without providing a replacement.
“We are calling on Governor Okpebholo and the government to come to our aid. We need a health centre in Ikpoba Community to cater to the health needs of our people,” he appealed.
Responding, Dr. Osoikhia assured the community that their concerns would be conveyed to the Governor.
“We have heard your concerns and we will report what we have seen to His Excellency. If the people are sick, there is no health centre nearby to care for them. The Governor is deeply committed to the health and well-being of his people, and we will ensure he is informed of this urgent need,” he stated.
He further urged the community to support the project when approved, cautioning them against any disruptions that could delay construction.
“There should be a sense of ownership for the health centre. It is for the benefit of everyone in this community,” he added.
