In line with Governor Monday Okpebholo’s initiative to strengthen institutional efficiency and align operations with his administration’s objectives, the Edo State Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) has conducted a comprehensive staff validation exercise at its Benin City office.
Managing Director of ICTA, Mr Eghosa Urhoghide, said that the exercise assessed workforce capacity, defined staff roles, and evaluated responsiveness to assigned ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs). It covered personnel at both the headquarters and MDAs.
Urhoghide explained that the exercise was necessary due to the agency’s dynamic and decentralised structure, with staff deployed across government institutions, including the Edo State liaison offices in Abuja and Lagos.
He noted the need to reconcile records, verify actual staff strength, and ensure optimal use of human resources, addressing overlapping responsibilities, absenteeism, and potential payroll inconsistencies.
“Given the nature of our work and the widespread deployment of personnel, it became imperative to conduct this audit,” he said.
“We needed to ensure that the number of staff on our payroll aligns with those physically present and actively discharging their responsibilities. This validation is part of the Governor Okpebholo administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery. It also allows us to assess staff performance and reassign roles to enhance efficiency.”
