The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Sokoto State, Mr Umar Yusuf Garba, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Musa, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen institutional collaboration for credible elections.
The visit, held at the Police Command Headquarters in Sokoto, highlighted the growing importance of sustained cooperation between electoral and security agencies to ensure peaceful and transparent polls.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, Garba commended the Sokoto Police Command for its continued support in maintaining peace and order, especially during electoral exercises.
“The partnership between INEC and the police is fundamental to public trust in our electoral process. We appreciate the commitment of the police and hope to deepen this cooperation as we prepare for future elections,” Garba said.
In his response, Commissioner Ahmed Musa reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting INEC’s operations.
He assured that the police would continue to provide comprehensive security for INEC personnel, election materials, and voters before, during, and after elections.
