The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the convocation of a high-level South-South Summit in Edo State, designed to consolidate the party’s political vision under the Renewed Hope Agenda and chart a strategic course for its future across the South-South geopolitical zone.
Themed “Renewed Hope in Action: Strengthening APC Mobilization and Governance in the South-South”, the summit aims to serve as a unifying platform for robust policy dialogue, political recalibration, and regional reawakening aligned with the APC’s national objectives.
The party has extended formal invitations to a distinguished assembly of stakeholders from the South-South, including serving and former governors, deputy governors, National Assembly members, ministers, and prominent figures from the APC National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Working Committee (NWC).
State-level leaders such as APC state chairmen and secretaries, current and former speakers of State Houses of Assembly, federal political appointees from the region, as well as past and present zonal and state officers of the party, including youth leaders and secretaries, are also invited.
According to party sources, the summit will provide an opportunity to assess the APC’s structural cohesion in the South-South, review recent electoral trends, and formulate a forward-looking blueprint to strengthen the party’s presence and political influence across the region.
In line with the Renewed Hope philosophy articulated by the party at the national level, discussions will centre on deepening grassroots engagement, fostering intra-party unity, and ensuring the delivery of tangible democratic dividends to citizens of the South-South.
The convocation of such a broad spectrum of leadership highlights the APC’s commitment to inclusive dialogue, strategic consensus-building, and leveraging the collective experience of past and present leaders to advance the party’s goals in the region.
Recognising the South-South as a critical frontier in Nigeria’s political landscape, the summit is expected to generate insightful conversations around party consolidation, governance priorities, and strategic repositioning of the APC ahead of future electoral cycles.
The summit is scheduled for Saturday, 5th July, 2025, at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, with proceedings set to commence at 10 a.m.
