BENIN CITY – Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has reaffirmed the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) commitment to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, echoing an earlier assurance given by Governor Monday Okpebholo in July.

Speaking yesterday at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, during a meeting with elders and leaders of the APC, Idahosa said the outcome of the recent bye-election in Ovia Federal Constituency had shown the party’s capacity and readiness ahead of 2027.

“This victory is a litmus test for the 2027 presidential election. After reviewing our performance, it is clear that we did very well. We are fully ready,” Idahosa said.

The deputy governor commended voters in Ovia Federal Constituency for electing Gabriella Omosede Igbinedion, attributing the success to the effective mobilization by party leaders, ward chairmen, and the campaign council.

He also called on citizens to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration and revalidation exercise of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), disclosing that subcommittees would be set up to mobilize unregistered residents.

House of Representatives member-elect, Omosede Igbinedion, pledged effective representation and developmental strides for Ovia, adding that her work at the federal level would complement the achievements of Governor Okpebholo.

“Ovia should expect nothing but the best. We will build on the good foundation laid by the deputy governor and support the tremendous work being done by the governor,” she said.

Other APC leaders who spoke at Tuesday’s meeting included Hon. Charity Amanyaevbo, Evangelist Rosemary Elawure, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbomo, Mr. Solomon Odemwingie, and Comrade Sylvester Iyamu.

It would be recalled that on July 25, Governor Okpebholo, while receiving a delegation of APC leaders at Government House, assured President Tinubu that Edo was prepared to mobilize massively for his re-election.

“We will not fail Mr. President. Edo will deliver 2.5 million votes in 2027. That is our commitment, and it is realistic because our structures across the state are solid and ready,” the governor had declared.
