The Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) has conducted a free medical outreach for residents of Idumabi community in Esan Central Local Government Area to improve access to basic healthcare services.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary of EDSPHCDA, Dr. Coulson Oahimire Osoikhia, expressed appreciation to Governor Monday Okpebholo for what he described as visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery across the state.
Dr. Osoikhia announced plans to establish a fully functional Primary Healthcare Centre in Idumabi to address the community’s long-standing healthcare needs.
“This outreach is part of our mandate to take free medical consultation, medications, and referrals to the people, in line with Governor Okpebholo’s vision for quality healthcare delivery,” Osoikhia said.
He also appealed to residents to support Dr. Joseph Ikpea in the forthcoming senatorial by-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025, stressing that his representation would further enhance development in the area.
Supervising Councillor for Irrua Ward, Mr. Iyasele Clement, commended the EDSPHCDA leadership for bringing healthcare services closer to the people and assured the community that more developmental projects were underway.
He equally called for residents’ support for Dr. Ikpea at the polls.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Ogbeni Benjamin, expressed gratitude to the state government and Dr. Osoikhia for the initiative, noting that the community had recently benefited from a new transformer and now anticipates the promised healthcare centre.
“We are very happy with this free medical outreach, especially the attention given to the elderly and the sick. We appreciate our son, Dr. Coulson, for his support and we are ready to give Dr. Ikpea our vote,” Benjamin said.
The outreach provided residents with medical consultations, free drugs, and referrals for advanced care where necessary, marking another step in the state’s effort to strengthen grassroots healthcare delivery.
