‎Wikki Tourists FC began their 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Plateau United in Bauchi, marking a triumphant return to the top tier after gaining promotion back to the NPFL.

‎The only goal of the match came in the 41st minute, when new signing Louis Dadong coolly slotted home a penalty, his first official goal for the club. That strike proved to be all the Bauchi-based side needed to secure the 3 points on home soil.

‎Wikki’s starting eleven featured several of its new signings, who gave a good account of themselves with a performance full of energy, discipline, and determination. The team missed multiple chances that could have made the scoreline more emphatic, but overall, the display was promising for the matches ahead.

‎In his post-match interview, Head Coach Abdu Maikaba expressed gratitude to God for the victory and praised his players’ performance:

‎”I’m happy with the result and the performance of my players. The scoreline could have been different, but for some tactical lapses. Alhamdulillah. I believe we will go far when the team fully blends, as some players have only been with us for ten days.

‎Stand-in Captain Yusuf Mohammed in an interview said they overjoyed by the victory and solicit for more understanding and prayers from their supporters.

‎Wikki Tourists travel to Kano to face Kano Pillars next week in what promises to be another thrilling NPFL encounter.
