KANO – President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mr. Alhassan Yahaya, on Tuesday commended the Kano State Government for its ongoing road infrastructure projects, describing them as a boost to mobility and economic development.

Yahaya spoke during a media tour of projects in the state by NUJ members from across the 36 states, as part of activities marking the NUJ National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Kano.

The delegation inspected Hadejia Road, Lodge Road, Murtala Muhammad Way, Tal’udu Flyover under construction, Dan’agundi Flyover, the Kano State Sports Commission, and Northwest University.

“We came, we saw, and we believe in what we saw. No doubt, this administration is doing a lot in road infrastructure. Our expectation is that at the end of these constructions, we will return to see how these beautiful roads are utilised by citizens and visitors alike,” Yahaya said.

He noted that the focus on road projects was deliberate, but the state was also executing notable works in health, agriculture, and the environment, which the delegation could not inspect due to time constraints.

Yahaya praised the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi-Waiya, for facilitating the visit, saying it offered journalists an opportunity to witness the state’s infrastructural transformation firsthand.

He also stressed the role of the media in providing accurate information about government projects and urged journalists to uphold professional standards.

The NEC meeting brought together top NUJ executives from all states of the federation.
