… Says criminals will be flushed out
AUCHI, EDO STATE — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commenced emergency palliative work on over 9.6 kilometers of dilapidated federal roads in Edo North, declaring war on kidnapping and vowing to restore safety to the region.
The affected routes include the Auchi-Igarra-Aiyetoro-Uneme-Nekhua-Aiyegunle-Ikpeshi-Ibillo-Ekor-Ikiran-Oke axis, long plagued by potholes and bandit activity.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony on Thursday, Okpebholo said the move followed a directive from President Bola Tinubu during a recent meeting in Abuja.
“President Tinubu instructed me to tackle road decay across the state, whether federal or state-owned. The roads we’re fixing today are critical to the economic and social wellbeing of our people,” he said.
On security, Okpebholo made a bold declaration: “The kidnapping enterprise in Edo State is coming to an end. I will relocate to Edo North if I must, to ensure these criminals are smoked out of our forests.”
He also addressed erosion challenges ravaging communities like Auchi and Ughiogwa, promising site inspections and an engineering response pending due process.
Hon. Oloruntoba Bamidele and Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, commended the governor for intervening where previous administrations had failed.
