IGUOBAZUWA – The Chairman of the Edo State Forestry Commission, Hon. Valentine Owamagbe Asuen, has embarked on an inspection of forest plantations in the Iguobazuwa Forest Reserve, Ovia South West Local Government Area.

The exercise, part of government efforts to promote sustainable forestry management, focused on monitoring plantation maintenance to enhance biodiversity and promote eco-tourism.

Hon. Asuen reiterated Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to reforestation and the upkeep of forest reserves across Edo. 

He emphasized that the state is committed to sustainably managing and conserving forest and wildlife resources in line with international best practices.

Commending forestry officers for their dedication, he stressed the importance of maintenance measures such as weeding, fire tracing, and protection from encroachment. 

He further urged host communities and stakeholders to support the commission in safeguarding the plantations.
